Point Note ("the App", "we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered note-taking application that transforms audio, images, PDFs, and YouTube videos into organized text notes. We are committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining transparency about our data practices.

2.1 User Content (Stored Locally)
We collect and store the following data locally on your device:
- Notes: Text notes, titles, summaries, and transcripts you create
- Audio Recordings: Audio files you record or upload for transcription
- Images: Photos you capture or upload for OCR and AI analysis
- PDF Documents: PDF files you upload for processing
- YouTube URLs: Links to YouTube videos you process
- Attachments: Any media files attached to your notes
- Metadata: Creation dates, modification dates, favorites, folders, tags, checklists, icons
- AI-Generated Content: Flashcards, quizzes, chat history, and rewritten text
Important:
- We do NOT upload, store, or retain your notes, recordings, or documents on our servers, backend, or cloud storage
- We do NOT process or store personal data on our systems
- Your content stays exclusively on your device
- User data is NOT transferred to our backend
2.2 Data Processed by AI Services
To provide AI-powered features (transcription, summarization, OCR, chat), we temporarily send the following data to our AI processing service (OpenAI APIs via our secure backend API):
- Audio files → for transcription
- Text content → for summarization, chat responses, flashcard/quiz generation
- Images → for OCR and visual analysis
- PDFs → for text extraction and summarization
- YouTube URLs → for transcript generation (videos are not downloaded)

- This data is sent securely over HTTPS directly to OpenAI APIs (not stored on our backend or servers)
- Content is NOT stored by us or OpenAI after processing is complete
- We do NOT retain, process, or store personal data on our systems
- OpenAI typically deletes API data within 30 days

- Device Identifier: A random, hashed identifier for managing subscriptions (via RevenueCat)
- Locale Information: Country, language, and currency for localization
- Device Type: iOS/Android version and device model (for analytics)

We collect anonymized usage data via Firebase Analytics:
- App opens, screen views, feature usage

- AI Processing Data: NOT stored by us on our servers or backend. We do NOT retain, process, or store personal data on our systems. OpenAI deletes within 30 days.
- Analytics Data: Retained for up to 14 months (Firebase policy - anonymized only)
- Subscription Data: Retained for subscription lifetime + 90 days (local storage only)

- In Transit: All network communication uses HTTPS/TLS 1.2+ encryption
- At Rest: Data stored on your device is protected by iOS/Android system encryption
- API Security: OpenAI API key stored securely on backend (never exposed to client)
- Access Controls: Local storage only accessible by Point Note (sandboxed)
