Data We Collect

• Photos you upload: Sent to our backend only to generate an analysis. We do not use photos to build user profiles.
• Chat messages: User messages sent to our AI assistant for coffee-related advice. Messages are stored locally on your device and sent to OpenAI for processing. We do not use messages to build user profiles.
• Device identifier: A random, hashed device ID stored on your device to manage free usage and subscriptions. It is not linked to your real identity.
• Localization info: Country, language and currency to localize results.
• Purchase information: Subscription status (active, plan type, expiry) stored locally on your device. App Store receipts are processed by Apple.
• History (optional): If you choose to save results locally, we store analyses and the photo file in your device storage.
• Caffeine tracking data (optional): If you choose to track your caffeine intake, we store daily consumption records, goals, and related data locally on your device. This data is not shared with third parties.
• Analytics data: Anonymized app usage data to improve performance and user experience.

How We Use Data

• Generate AI coffee analyses and show relevant currency/locale.
• Provide AI-powered coffee advice through chat conversations.
• Enforce daily free usage limits for non-subscribed users.
• Provide premium access and restore purchases.
• Track caffeine intake and help users stay within healthy limits (optional feature).
• Improve reliability and detect abuse (rate limiting).
• Analyze app performance and user behavior patterns.

Data Sharing

• We do not sell your data.
• Photos and request data are sent to our server to call AI models.
• Service providers:
  • OpenAI: We use OpenAI's Vision API to perform AI inference on coffee images and OpenAI's Chat API for conversational assistance. See OpenAI Privacy Policy.
  • Firebase Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized app usage data. See Firebase Privacy Policy.
  • RevenueCat: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
  • Apple: Subscription and purchase data is processed by Apple. See Apple Privacy Policy.

Data Retention

• Photos: Not stored server-side beyond processing.
• Chat Messages: Stored locally on your device until you delete them.
• Local History: Stays only on your device until you delete it.
• Caffeine Tracking Data: Stored locally on your device until you delete it.
• Device token/JWT: Stored on device secure storage and can be cleared.
• Analytics Data: Retained per Firebase's policy (typically 60 months).

Your Choices

• Do not save to History if you prefer not to keep images locally.
• You may delete all saved analyses from the History page.
• You may delete chat conversations at any time from the chat screen.
• You may delete caffeine tracking data at any time from the caffeine tracking settings.
• You may uninstall the app to remove all local data.
• You can revoke camera or photo library permissions through iOS Settings.

Security

• HTTPS is used for all communication.
• Images can be optimized on-device before upload and EXIF data is stripped.
• All data transmission is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher.

Children

The App is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.
